The Vigo County Public Library is an excellent educational resource for children. The young peoples librarians are helpful in arranging developmentally appropriate experiences for all children from toddlers through teens. The general tour consists of a 30 minute storytime (toddlers-through grade 2) and a 30 minute tour of the Young Peoples Department. For older students there is a 30 minute storytelling (not a book, an interactive talk) and a 30 minute tour of the Young Peoples Department. The tour is further modified for teens, and includes time in the computer lab as well as a 30 minute "reference department" scavenger hunt. All of these programs are offered free of charge to students in Vigo County. Students from other counties are welcomed on a space available basis.
